A visit to the Post Office

In this age where mail means email and post means a blog, twitter or a facebook post it was very interesting when I saw a group of preschoolers come in to our local post office.  While I found it anachronistic I quickly realized the enormity of our digital divide.

There is a very real need to also be aware of the post office. It is not going die in any foreseeable future. The teacher who accompanied them was demonstrating the post card, inland letter and also the stamps and envelops while the children identified them one after the other. She also showed them a post box and asked what colour it was. While many answered “Red” one child was adamantly saying that her post box was orange

While many of our children are probably quite removed from a post office this sight made me wonder of the shape of things to come. I was thinking may be class of 5 and 6 should be taken to a bank as well.
